Context

Rhyme is a healthcare technology platform focused on electronic prior authorizations, helping providers and clinical staff navigate payer requirements and documentation more efficiently.

The product operated in a highly regulated environment, with complex, variable workflows shaped by payer rules, state requirements, and strict compliance standards.

My Role & Scope

User Experience Product Designer

I was the sole UX/UI designer, supporting product and engineering teams as the platform evolved. I contributed to workflow design, interaction patterns, and visual consistency across the application.

Scope included:

  • Prior authorization workflow design

  • Provider and admin-facing interfaces

  • Translation of regulatory requirements into usable flows

  • Early design system and component foundations

Outcomes & Impact

The Focus

My work focused on:

  • Improving clarity in multi-step, rules-driven workflows

  • Reducing cognitive load for clinical staff under time pressure

  • Designing within compliance and documentation constraints

  • Supporting scalability as the product grew

The work helped:

  • Make complex authorization steps easier to understand and complete

  • Reduce user confusion and rework during submissions

This experience laid the groundwork for my later work leading larger, multi-surface healthcare systems.
